Mauritanian Memorandum Signing Ceremony

Ceremony for the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding Between the Mauritanian Department of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Trans Africa Pipeline Inc.

Nouakchott, Mauritanie: Representing the Mauritanian Government, Her Excellency the Deputy Minister for Maghrebian and African Affairs and Mauritanians abroad, Mrs. Khadijetou Mbareck FALL, signed on May 23, 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Trans Africa Pipeline Inc. (“TAP”) to work together to construct a fresh water pipeline, associated solar power plants and desalination of sea water facilities to move potable water from the coast of Mauritania into the Sahel region for distribution to communities and for use in agricultural projects.

The MOU includes the cooperation of the Pan African Great Green Wall Project (“PAGGW”).

At the official invitation of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania via Her Excellency the Deputy Minister for Maghrebian and African Affairs and Mauritanians abroad, Mrs. Khadijetou Mbareck FALL, a delegation from TAP attended four days of meetings led by its President, Dr. Rod TENNYSON, together with TAP Advisory Board members, Mr. Bob McCAMMON (MD, Kilmurn PPS) and Mr. Angelo PRETE (COO, WElink Energy Group).

This MOU confirms the intent to mutually engage and co-operate during all phases of this historic project including assessment, development and implementation and other related opportunities. To achieve the objectives they have agreed to establish a consortium of representatives from the Government of Mauritania, the PAGGW, TAP Inc., and the TAP Foundation for the successful completion of the project in Mauritania as well as in the Sahel region.

Furthermore, they agree that this water pipeline and its associated infrastructure represent the “Concept Validation Phase” created by TAP and funded by blended finance from philanthropic donors, investors associated to TAP, private and government organizations and industrial partners.
