In addition, TAP will provide vital energy resources from both water and solar power, reduce desertification and the impact of climate change, and spur significant local employment across the Sahel.

It will also engender and support the emergence of a substantial, self-sustaining agricultural and forestry base throughout the region.

Critically, TAP has been conceived as a project for which each country can take full ownership upon completion.
