At the invitation of Dr. Paul Elvis Tangem, Coordinator for the Great Green Wall at the African Union Commission, TAP Team members, Ken Templeton and Luke Crampton made a presentation to the Steering Committee of the GGW at the 7th Conference of the Great Green Wall Initiative held at the African Union Conference Centre, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
During the presentation, TAP proposed a closer alliance with the GGW, a partnership which could provide the Great Green Wall with a comprehensive, permanent solution for its substantial water needs and significantly assist the Great Green Wall Accelerator initiative announced at the One Planet Summit in 2021.
It was further proposed that TAP’s desalination water project with its zero carbon footprint, designed to traverse 11 countries across North Africa along the same route as the Great Green Wall, become a blueprint for a unique tender process overseen by the GGW, the AU and TAP. This process would invite bids from experienced and accredited consortiums who already have desalination and solar powered energy projects underway on the African continent.
